To add a new member Category got to 

**Members - Select Boxes - Member Categories**

Go to "New"

Enter the Member Category (not too long) and the member category description.

After saving the new member category, edit the record to add more details,

eg. this member type offers 3 months of membership, so change the expiry period to 3 months, or whether this category is included in the new member signup form (set Exclude = 'No'). Important! Leave return period = 0, unless you want different member types to have different loan periods.
